  2.                     Guidelines and Code of Conduct

  5. INTRODUCTION:
  6. This message describes the Guidelines and Code of Conduct to which
  7. participants and recipients of the CBM Conference must subscribe.
  8.  
  9. WHAT IS THE CBM CONFERENCE:
  10. This conference is devoted to promoting serious technical discussions
  11. of Commodore Business Machines (tm) hardware and software, including
  12. the PET, VIC-20, C-64, C-128, C-16, Plus/4, and other Commodore 8-bit
  13. CPU computers. This conference does NOT support the Amiga or PC lines.
  14.  
  15. VALID POSTINGS IN THE CBM CONFERENCE:
  16. Valid messages in the conference should deal with the Commodore 8 bit
  17. CPU machines' features, applications (both hardware and software),
  18. problems, discoveries, programming (ML, BASIC, and other languages),
  19. and related topics.
  20.  
  21. INVALID POSTINGS IN THE CBM CONFERENCE:
  22. Invalid messages in the conference consist primarily, but not exclus-
  23. ivly, of the following types of messages. If anyone finds a new way
  24. to annoy all and sundry, a new catagory will be added.
  25.  
  26.     1. Pirated Software   - Discussions of the illegal acquisition of
  27.                             commercial software are forbidden.
  28.     2. Amiga and PC-xx    - No comparisons between or discussions of
  29.                             these computers are allowed in this echo.
  30.     3. Aliases / Handles  - If you must use an alias or handle, please
  31.                             sign your real name to each message.
  32.     4. Profanity          - Language should be appropriate for the age
  33.                             and gender mix of our participants.
  34.     5. Personal Attacts   - You may disagree with the viewpoint of
  35.        ( Flames )           other users. Do so politely and without
  36.                             personally derogatory comments.
  37.     6. Personal Messages  - Personal messages (chat), not remotely
  38.                             related to the Commodore 8 bit computers,
  39.                             are "off topic".
  40.     7. Third Party replys - Messages from the moderator to a user in
  41.                             line of duty are always "On Topic", as are
  42.                             replies from the user. Third party replies
  43.                             to such messages are "Off Topic"
  44.  
  45. Violations of the code may be responded to by the conference moderator
  46. thru the echo or by netmail. If the disruptive behavior does not stop,
  47. FidoNet policy provides means for removal of the disruptive elements
  48. from the conference. In case of extreme misbehavior (obscene grafiti,
  49. blatant promotion of piracy) the operator of the system where the post
  50. originated may be requested to immediately remove the offending party
  51. from the CBM echo without prior warning or discussion.

  53. WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THIS "GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT" THING:
  54. Everyone has the right to NOT post messages in this conference. If you
  55. can not abide by these rules, then don't post here. If you have const-
  56. ructive criticisms or suggestions you may address them via Netmail to
  57. the moderator named below. If you do not have Netmail access on your
  58. local system, you may request in the echo that the moderator provide
  59. you with an alternate (postal mail) address for contact.
